Curriculum Overview
Deepen your personal practice and expand your teaching through an exploration of Ashtanga’s Primary and Intermediate Series. We’ll study the details of each posture, the transitions between them, and the connection between breath and movement—with plenty of partner work and hands-on learning.
Areas of study include:
Asana exploration: Study standing and seated postures, twists, backbends, arm balances, and inversions. Explore distinctive Intermediate Series postures just to name a few examples: such as Kapotasana (Pigeon Pose, a deep kneeling backbend), Parighasana (Gate Pose), and Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Balance).
Anatomy and modifications: Deepen your understanding of the body in practice and explore ways to adapt postures to different bodies, abilities, and needs.
Partner work and hands-on adjustments: Work together to develop observation skills and explore supportive adjustments with attention to communication, consent, and individual differences.
Breath and vinyasa: Explore traditional Sanskrit counting, purposeful transitions, and the coordination of breath and movement.
Focus and practice traditions: Study bandhas, drishti, Sanskrit posture names, and opening and closing chants, connecting the physical practice with its meditative roots.
Throughout the training, we’ll bring these elements together to cultivate greater clarity, confidence, and care in your practice and teaching.
Faculty
Originally from Poland, Ania Leśniak is the founder of Daya Yoga Studio in Brooklyn, where she has spent nearly two decades cultivating a community centered on yoga, healing, and authentic connection.
After years of practicing Capoeira, Salsa, Swing, Tarantella, and Contact Improvisation, Ania found her true home in yoga. Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, and Bhakti Yoga now form the foundation of her practice and teaching.
She has studied with John T. of Atmananda Yoga, Yoga Sukhavati, Rose Erin Vaughan, the Katonah Yoga community, and many other respected teachers. A transformative experience at the Golden Temple in Guatemala deepened her understanding of Kundalini Shakti and her path as a healer.
Alongside teaching yoga, Ania is a Reiki practitioner, intuitive healer, and sound practitioner. Through Daya, she shares practices that help people reconnect with themselves and navigate life with greater awareness, purpose, and compassion.
Originally from South Florida, Caro Lokah discovered yoga at 15 through the traditional 26&2 practice, beginning a lifelong exploration of yoga's many lineages.
At 24, she founded Original Hot Yoga 305, creating a welcoming space where students could explore 26&2, Ashtanga, traditional Hatha, movement meditation, mantra, and more. Though the studio closed during the pandemic, its spirit continues through her teaching.
With over 20 years of dedicated practice, Caro views yoga as a path to healing, self-discovery, and community. Her classes blend strong foundations with curiosity, inviting students to cultivate awareness, resilience, and connection both on and off the mat.
